I had severe acne as a teenager. I was put on the contraceptive pill when I was 14 to mask the symptoms (I was so naive to believe that was an option). My skin issues subsided at first but reappeared when I was 18 while studying to become an esthetician. Being an esthetician with skin problems was embarrassing. More skin products, more make-up to cover it up—it was a vicious cycle.

Even though I was always interested in health and beauty, I was missing the basics of being healthy. I didn't eat right, shunned the sun (indoctrinated by the beauty industry), was on the pill, dyed my hair, used toxic cosmetic products and perfume from a very young age. I wasn't in tune with nature and unaware of what I put into or onto my body. It took a shock event to wake up and really understand true skin health doesn't come from beauty products, supplements or western medicine but from the inside.

When I was 27, while studying cosmetic science at University (still indoctrinated by the beauty industry), I decided to undergo surgery to remove infected tissues due to my long-term acne issues. That was the dermatologist’s advice. I woke up with an open and huge wound. They couldn't stitch it because they had to cut out so much tissue. You could see down to my muscles.

I was shaking and crying from looking at this truly horrible surgery wound. I had to stay in hospital for one week and the wound took 3 months to heal. The wake-up call came when new acne lesions came up again while I was still in the hospital. I went through this ordeal that left me with a 20 cm long scar for life for no reason.

That was the last time I trusted doctor's advice blindly. This shock event forced me take my health into my own hands and taught me to take a deep look at my health. Simple but radical changes in my diet and letting go of toxic products were getting me better. I have experimented with natural therapies and I am still learning so much about true physical, mental and spiritual health. I have been on a wondrous journey and I am in awe of how the body can heal itself by simply letting it. The human body is the most intelligent machine on Earth. Healing is simple, yet no easy road.

20 years of being an esthetician and cosmetic scientist, I have gathered in depth knowledge and experience in skin health. My training in cosmetic science and biology at the University of Hamburg in Germany (graduation in 2014), took my expertise to the next level. I have learned from the best dermatologists and plastic surgeons in Germany.

In 2020, during the first lock-down, I took a deep dive into the clinical research about melasma and turned the findings into my first book The Truth About Melasma. My personal story and lifelong studies in alternative and natural therapies have led to my wisdom and holistic view on well-being—at 40 years now, I am happier and healthier than I was ever before.

I helped thousands of women reach their skin goals and I look forward to many more years dedicating my career to skin, beauty and women's well-being.
